THE OLIVE PROJECT
Providing specialist support to black and minoritised victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence.

We are The Olive Project. Our project is named after Olive Morris who was a black feminist activist in the 1960s and 1970, She became heavily involved in local and community activism before her death at the age of 27 in 1979.

“At The Olive Project we stand in solidarity with our brothers, sisters and siblings from the LGBTQ+ community and unequivocally condemn the transphobic attacks that many trans people face within our community. We want to be known as a place of safety, respect and compassion for victims and survivors who belong to both black and minoritised and LGBTQ+ communities. They face the intersections of racism, transphobia, misogyny and homophobia which results in a disproportionate higher risk of abuse but less chances of support and recovery.

The Olive Project wants to work in collaboration and partnership with by and for LGBTQ+ organisations to ensure that all victims and survivors voices are heard and supported to live lives free from abuse and harm.”

CREATING REAL CHANGE IN DEVON

THE OLIVE PROJECT  – DEVON

Providing specialist support to black and minoritised victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence.

At the Olive project, we believe that black and minoritised victims of abuse deserve a specialist service that takes into account their needs and lived experiences. Black and minoritised women are more likely to stay longer in an abusive relationship, not to report to the police, and have multiple perpetrators. We believe a by and for organisation is best to provide this support.

We provide training courses and lead on local campaigns to create real change in Devon and the surrounding areas.

In essence, we are from the communities we serve.
